We the lessees of plot of Baridhara Defense Officers Housing Scheme (DOHS) aspire to propagate a congenial and safe community living and collective welfare for ourselves and our successsors residing in the BARIDHARA DOHS and to promote socio-cultural, recreational, environmental and religious pursuits, we therefore, pledge to form an Association for the fulfillment of these objects within the meaning of a civilized society recognizing our affiliation to the armed forced of the country.
Defence Officer Housing Scheme (DOHS) Baridhara was the third project approved by Ministry of Defence vide letter No. 1. Project 3/92/D-9/561 dated 29.11.1992. Initially 307 plots were allotted in December 1992 and subsequently 260 plots were allotted in phases. As on 01 February 2011 total number of plots are 567 in DOHS Baridhara. DOHS Bariadhara is located on the eastern side of Dhaka Cantonment and bounded by Dhaka Cantonment to its West, Dhaka Cantonment Railway station to the North, Gulshan R/A and Baridhara Diplomatic Zone to the South and Shewra and Kalachandpur on the East. DOHS Baridhara is approximately 4 KM from Dhaka International Airport. Radison water garden Hotel and Army Golf Course is within 200 / 300 meters walking distance from DOHS Baridhara.
Initially there was only one entry / exit on the eastern side of DOHS Baridhara. Subsequently northern gate near the school was opened extending the road from transit camp to the school and finally the DOHS was connected southward with Gulshan and Baridhara through acquisition of additional land. As on now DOHS Baridhara has excellent road connections from all directions for entry / exit.
Initially DOHS Baridhara had barbed wire perimeter fencing, which was replaced by boundary wall to strengthen security of the area. With perimeter walls and well guarded security gates DOHS Baridhara is considered to be a well secured residential area in Dhaka.
DOHS Bairdhara is one of the finest residential area of the country with well laid out roads, self contained service support infrastructure and modern amenities for community living. DOHS Baridhara has its own network of deep tube wells for water supply, substation for electric supply, Titas Gas Distribution station, telephone exchange, a reputed English medium school and a modern market complex.
DOHS Baridhara Jame Masjid with its cooling system is an attraction for the residents specially for elderly people. The big pond in the northeast corner with a secured walkway around it, is the centre of attraction where one may find people of all ages almost round the clock. The children park and play ground on the north and west bank of the pond adds to the life of the area. Canteen Store Departments (CSD) outlet on the south bank of the pond is an added attraction to the people visiting the pond area and mosque to stop and pick daily necessities at subsidized rate. The under construction community centre (near completion) in the north east corner of DOHS Baridhara has been planned to cater for 300-400 guests and other community facilities like library, indoor games, health club and modern restaurant.
With the exception of few irregular plots the plot size is of 5 Kathas facing north and south. The apartment size is usually 2600 sft and 1300 sft. The buildings are constructed as per the National Building Codes under direct supervision of Dhaka Cantonment Board authority. The plots are systematically numbered for easy identification by visitors.
An elected executive committee co-ordinates all service support and community facilities of the area. DOHS Baridhara is a well secured self contained and peaceful residential area with all modern amenities.
